Founder, Lift to End Duchenne Org www.lifttoendduchenne.com (2022-Present)

  • Established a Non-profit with an Awareness Campaign across multiple gyms in the GTA to support and raise funds to accelerate research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a genetic disorder that affects my family.

  • Raised over $5000 for Defeat Duchenne Canada and engaged 125 individuals to participate

  • Initiated and organized a health speaker series in my high school aimed at increasing health awareness and education among students in conjunction with fundraising efforts. 

 

Author, “Anishinaabemowin Animals” “The Anishinaabemowin Rainbow” self-published on Amazon (2021, 2023)

  • Authored and published two children's books in Anishinaabemowin to introduce the language of the Native Ontarians to early learners, with proceeds going to Nawewin Gami, an Anishinaabemowin Immersion Program

  • Coordinated free distribution of the book to parents and families at the Native Canadian Community Center and elementary students at the Wikwemikoong First Nation Elementary School

 

Scholar, University of Alberta (2023)

  • Completed the university course "Indigenous Canada," deepened my understanding of Indigenous perspectives on culture preservation, equity, and reconciliation efforts within Indigenous communities, and gained insight into socio-political issues.

 

Scholar, Ohio State Department of Linguistics (2022)

  • Explored a wide range of linguistic topics, including Documentation and Elicitation, sociolinguistics, Language Variation, Morphology and Syntax, Semantics, Historical Linguistics, Vocal Phenomena, and Cognitive Psycholinguistics.

  • Organized and led various construction-based projects to further support Blackfeet community

  • Participated in cultural immersion program led by Blackfeet elders to learn about language, history, and cultural practices.
